Our Spring Schedule

Writer: John RobertsJohn Roberts

In an effort to engage the entire roster and develop depth, the Gamecocks have announced a robust Spring 2025 schedule that includes both 15s and 7s games.

During the summer, USC joined a consortium of teams in developing the Atlantic Cup, a group of 10 teams in the Carolinas, Georgia and the Mid-Atlantic areas that worked together to flesh out a Spring 15s schedule, a time when most programs devote most of their efforts to 7s.

As a result, the Gamecocks will host 15s contests against South Division teams Belmont-Abbey and UNC on February 15 and March 22 respectively. USC will travel to Life (February 22) and NC State (March 29).

The winner of the South Division will face the winner of the Mid-Atlantic Division (Delaware, Mary Washington, Mt. St. Mary, Southern Virginia and St. Joes) in a yet-to-be scheduled Atlantic Cup Championship game.

“In the past, we have only been able to schedule a couple of Spring 15s games,” said Coach Roberts. “This left much of our roster idle. Thanks to the Atlantic Cup we can engage our entire roster of 55 in meaningful contests. This should pay big dividends next fall as we look to develop a national championship caliber 15s team.”

On the 7s front, the Gamecocks will look to capture the program’s fourth consecutive SCRC conference championship and return the NCR national championship tournament to be held April 26 in Gaithersburg, Va.

To date, USC has scheduled tournaments in Gainesville, Rock Hill, and Winston Salem. The Gamecocks will host their own 7s tournament March 1. The SCRC 7s Conference Tournament has been tentatively scheduled for April 5.

USC will host their Spring awards and Hall of Fame banquet April 19 and has scheduled Rent-A-Rugger fundraisers in January and April.
